About Us Training Cow dogs takes skill and knowledge. Mike and Jan Canaday have 28 years experience in training dogs to work with livestock, as well as competing in Sheepdog and Cattledog trials. Mike is the 1999 - 2004 president of the United States Border Collie Handlers Association. This is the National organization that sets the rules for Sheepdog trails across the United States, as well as sponsors the National Sheepdog and Cattledog Finals. Mike and Jan are respected members of the Border Collie community. There are other trainers in the U.S. that are qualified to train dogs to the high standard required to meet the demands of Livestock work. If you are considering buying a Cow dog, consult this list from the USBCHA (Alphabetical list of Handlers) to see if the person you are purchasing from is a qualified trainer. It is imperative that you are provided the opportunity to see your new dog work Cattle. If you aren't able to view this in person, you should be provided a video tape. Also, are you going to get on-going support from the trainer who sold you the dog? Will they remain on the scene for the lifetime of the dog you purchased? You will get a video of your dog working Cattle and Mike and Jan are available 7 days a week to answer any questions that you have regarding either the dog or problem cows. In addition, Mike and Jan will gladly train your current or correct problems you may be having even if you didn't buy your dog from them. We limit our outside dog training to 3 dogs at any one time. Please call for prices and to reserve a spot for your dog! You are welcome to call any time 408-410-0793 or 559-935-8309.
